Once an Enrolled Agent files Form 2848 (Power of Attorney) we can call the IRS the same day and negotiate a release, hold, or hardship classification. Speed matters — your next paycheck is the deadline.
Day 1 — Power of Attorney
We file Form 2848 by fax to CAF. Within hours the IRS recognizes our office as the authorized representative and routes all calls and notices to us.
Day 1-2 — Call ACS or the Revenue Officer
We call the Automated Collection System (or your assigned Revenue Officer) and request a levy release pending a collection alternative — Installment Agreement, Currently Not Collectible, or pending Offer in Compromise.
Day 2-5 — Levy release fax to your employer
The IRS faxes Form 668-D (Release of Levy) to your payroll department. Your next paycheck is whole again. Then we work the long-term resolution.
